While I was on vacation I found a set of 20 inch wheels and tires set on craigslist. I called the guy up to see if the wheels/tires where still available, and he said it is but someone will be coming to take a look at them on Sunday. That is the same day that I will be fly back from Hawaii, but I would not be home until late that night.
So, on Monday I gave the guy a call to see if the wheels are still available, and he told me no one came on Sunday. So I grabbed some cash, tools and left to check out the wheels. Here is the problem that I might have because of what I know so far. According to his ad on craigslist he said the tires are 275/65R20, and that means it is 34.1 inches in diameter. The stock tires are 265/70R18, and the diameter of the tire is 32.6 inches. As you can see this set of tires is almost 2 inches taller, and in most case you will need to have a lift in order to fit them on the truck.
According to the seller, he had them on a 2wd truck with no lift. And of course the tires rubbed the wheel well when he made a sharp turn. So I brought along my floor jack and tools to see if it will work on my truck. And to my surprise, the wheels did not rub at all; I think the leveling kit that I installed helped a lot. Plus my truck is 4wd and I think it has taller springs. |
